Alberto Marchiori

Cinematographer

Growing up in a small city in northern Italy he moved to Rome in 2001 to study as a cinematographer and camera operator at Cinecittà.

Fifteen years of experience within the camera departments of the most important Italian directors (Garrone, Vicari, Avati, Bellocchio) including IndigoFilm (producers of ‘The Great Beauty) have left their mark: now evident within Alberto’s own brand of cinematography which  blends technical excellence and intuitive artistry. He continues to gain recognition for his work throughout Italy and Brazil.

In 2010, he won an award for  Best Cinematography at the Naples Film Festival for his work in ‘Velma’ a film by Piero Tomaselli.

His latest project, "The Silence" (2016) directed by Ali Asgari was included in the Official competition Palm D'Or at Cannes Festival.

I am currently living and working between Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, London and Italy.

In October 2014 I was the director of photography for the Brazilian feature film  ''Diminuta'' (Bruno Saglia), shot in the Veneto region of Italy, starring Giancarlo Giannini, Reynaldo Gianecchini, Clarice Alves, Jesuton, Deborah Evelyn and Carlos Vereza.

I have held both director and cinematographer roles in music video projects for Brazilian music artists (Universal Music, Som Livre).

In 2017 I was the cinematographer for two Italian feature films, "Youtopia" and "L'età impoerfetta,"  the last of which was nominated for the Rome Film Festival.

I began my career shooting on film. Today, I usually work with the Alexa, but also frequently shoot with Red, Blackmagic, Sony and Canon cameras. I have access to a range of equipment, including: Steadicam, Movi, Ronin, Armor Man V2.0, Dolly and lighting.
